Animal Management and Education Centre Manager (Full-time, All Year Round, Maternity Cover)
The College is seeking to appoint an Animal Management and Education Centre Manager to manage and develop the College’s highly successful zoo licensed and BIAZA accredited Animal Management Centre.
You will be responsible for the management of our team of Animal Technicians, Education Officer and all of the animals housed in AMC. The Centre consists of 100 species split over a zoo courtyard, nocturnal room, companion mammal section, domestic area, kennel facility and ectotherm house. The key responsibilities of the role include providing a high quality, professional, customer focused Animal and Education Centre facility, supporting the strategic, commercial and operational needs of the College.
You will have proven knowledge and extensive experience managing a range of animal species across all main taxa and a proven record of managing, developing and motivating a team. In leading the Centre you will also ensure adherence to all UK animal legislation such as BALAI, Zoo Licensing, Animal Activities licensing and CITES. You will be responsible for delivering a number of capital improvement projects so previous experience of budget management and stakeholder engagement will be an advantage.
You will also be responsible for ensuring high standards of animal husbandry and welfare are met at all times. It is essential that you have a forward thinking and progressive approach and experience in developing a positive and rewarding student and visitor experience. To meet this aim it is essential the post holder has a clear commitment to providing high quality education/support to all stakeholders.
