Teaching Assistant (with Sporting responsibilities)

Parson Street Primary School are seeking an energetic, motivated and outstanding Teaching Assistant to join their team. The role of Teaching Assistant, with sporting responsibilities is varied and dynamic and requires someone who has the ability to work in different environments and teach a range of traditional and non-traditional sports to children aged 4-11 years.  

The appointed candidate will work effectively as part of a committed and dedicated team of practitioners who care passionately about the children they work with. We have an expectation that all staff work to a high standard, have a conscientious approach to their work and are able to use their initiative. The role will also include leading lunchtime play leaders, supporting PE sessions, running after-school sports clubs, assisting pupils at sport competitions off site.

The successful applicant will:

- Have level 1 or above sports coaching qualification.

- Have an up-to-date online DBS certificate.

- Have at least 1 year experience of working with children.

It is desirable that the applicant will:

- Have a number of coaching qualifications across a range of sports.

- Hold a level 2 sports coaching qualification.

- Hold a paediatric first aid qualification.

- Hold a current swim coaching qualification.

- Relevant teaching experience in a whole class setting, who can provide class cover as and when required.

- Understanding of the curriculum and assessment expectations.


Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will have the desire to learn and fit in with the Parson Street Primary team.

The role comes with a competitive salary.

Salary Range: £20,043 - £23,953 dependant on experience and criteria met (Actual salary £15,328 – £18,318)

Hours: 32.5 hrs a week

Contract: Fixed Term until 31/08/2023 (linked to funding), Term Time Only plus inset days
