The Bishop Wand School is looking to appoint an inspirational Teacher of Science to join a friendly Faculty of teachers in the Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology departments, from January 2023.

The position is available to ECTs and experienced teachers who are passionate about Science and believe that all students have the ability to learn and make progress across Key Stages 3-5. There is an opportunity for a TLR responsibility if the candidate has the right experience and a desire for a leadership role.

This is an exciting time for the Science Faculty, we are going from strength to strength and have a team of high-quality practitioners that work well together and are keen to share ideas with each other and trainee teachers. Our team is innovative and with a drive to introduce new and modern projects with enthusiasm. Our GCSE results in 2019 improved by 10% for the second year running, and this was upheld in 2022. At A-level all four Sciences frequently have an ALPs score of between 1 and 3 placing us in the top 25% of schools nationally.

Our recent OFSTED inspection spent a significant proportion of its time within the Science Faculty and described the School as “a community, where everyone looks out for each other. They respect each other and show kindness and consideration to all’.

We strongly value enhancing the learning of our students through extra-curricular activities and as a result students can attend a variety of Science clubs and experience organised trips to widen their Scientific understanding.
