Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 and our first two cohorts of A-level students celebrated their exceptional results in summer 2021 and 2022, with strong destinations for all, including three Oxbridge students and several prestigious apprenticeship places.
2023 sees the first teaching of BTEC Health and Social Care at Levels 2 and 3 at GWA as we expand our sixth form to accommodate the first cohort of year 11 students in the school as they make their way into year 12. We have created a climate in social sciences where our students are inquisitive, ambitious learners who have the desire to fully explore the diversity our curriculum has to offer, already achieving excellent outcomes. Initial numbers for Health and Social Care are very encouraging, indicating the course will be a popular choice for our ambitious learners. This post offers the opportunity to lead in this subject area and ensure the course becomes fully established.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. Our brand new building and state-of-the-art facilities help us to achieve this, but it is the fantastic team of staff who turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire students in the classroom and beyond then this provides you with an exciting opportunity to further shape your practice and develop your career.
