As a developing Multi Academy Trust (MAT), now is an exciting time to join us as The Chalet School are in search of a fixed term Senior Teaching Assistant. This opportunity is ideal for an existing Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in their career to enhance their skills, knowledge and experience through supported growth and given exposure to additional responsibilities.

Your Role

As a Teaching Assistant the attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):

• Under the professional direction of a class teacher, undertake a range of teaching and learning activities with whole classes, specified groups or individual pupils

• Provide specific teaching & learning support to pupils to achieve their learning targets

• In agreement with the Head of Education Provision (HoEP) or teacher and where appropriate, communicate with parents/carers about the education and care of their children

• Participate in activities designed to meet the emotional, physical and learning needs of individual pupils and groups of pupils, all of which have special needs

• Contribute to the monitoring and delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP’s)

• Feed back to the class teacher about progress made by the pupils in line with Ofsted requirements

Your Experience

Our Senior TA person specification attached will contain the full details, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills

• NVQ 2 or willingness to undertake NVQ 3

• EYFS/Primary training and/or experience

• Strong evidence of good performance management in the role of a teaching assistance

• Secure working knowledge of SEND and Autism & evidence of attending relevant school INSET
