1:1 Teaching Assistant – SEND

Salary: Grade 3 (Sp5-7) £13.21 per hour

To commence: As soon as possible

Contract: 39 weeks per year - Term Time only + INSET days

Hours: 8:40-1:00

Chipstead Valley Primary is a thriving and successful three form primary, judged as ‘outstanding’ in all categories by Ofsted (March 2013). We are fortunate enough to have extensive facilities and grounds including a gym area, swimming pool, immersive learning suite and library.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our busy Teaching Assistant team to provide 1:1 support to children with additional learning needs.  We are lucky to have a supportive school community, friendly and welcoming staff and most importantly, a school full of wonderful children.

Job Details:

  • As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside outstanding teachers to provide specialist academic and behavioural support to pupils with additional learning needs.  The position would suit an experienced teaching assistant, who has direct experience of providing support of this nature to children in a school environment.   
  • Alternatively, you may have a wider experience of working with adults with additional needs,  seeking to broaden your experience working with children. A passion for SEND and experience of delivering proven strategies to assist children with additional learning needs, as well as a caring and nurturing nature is essential. 
  • This role is varied and we are looking for an adaptable, flexible and resourceful individual able to cope in a high-pressure environment and deal with constantly changing priorities.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Previous experience of supporting children/adults with SEND with knowledge of strategies we can use to help them access learning
  • Understanding how to support the complex needs of children/adults with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties
  • Caring and nurturing nature with a demonstrable passion for inclusion
  • A proven ability to work on their own initiative.
  • A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
  • The ability to use relevant technology/equipment to access learning
