About us

West Hill is an incredibly special place to be. We are a newly formed school supporting children with a range of additional needs at primary level. All our children have additional needs and an Education, Health and Care Plan to support their learning. Our school has undergone a huge redevelopment and we have a beautiful library space, support from our community and keen children and staff. We currently have a part time librarian and need further support to embed our reading further.

Job Description

Working 29.85 hours per week/39 weeks per year (term time)

Working pattern 9am to 3.25pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute unpaid break and a 15 minute weekly meeting outside these hours.

Flexibility around the working pattern could be considered.

West Hill School requires an enthusiastic and motivated member of staff to support our very special primary school and promote our love of literacy. We are keen to support all our children to achieve as much as they possibly can and are keen that they develop the best literacy skills. Ultimately we want all our children to have a love of reading fostered from an early age.

Experience in schools is not necessary if you have the qualities or skills or qualifications that we are looking for.

Are you someone with an interest in positively shaping and enhancing the lives of children?

Have you got a passion for reading, worked in a school or supported a school library before?

Does specialist training, such as Makaton and Attention Autism appeal to you?

Would you like to be part of a friendly team who will help support you to achieve your long term goals?

If so then this role supporting our children to read further could be exactly what you need.

You will experience:

> Amazing children who are keen to learn how to learn

> Friendly and supportive staff, parents and governors

> Varied curriculum and bespoke CPD opportunities

> Strong commitment to staff well-being

> You will also be eligible for THPT Benefits and Pension schemes

> Opportunity to observe & work within a range of professionals to develop your skills

If you are excited by all that you have read then we would love to hear from you…
