We are looking for a full-time primary school teacher to join us in April 2023 (Term 5) at Red Oaks Primary School to cover maternity leave.

The Role:

Job Purpose:

In addition to those professional responsibilities which are common to all classroom teachers in the Trust and described fully in the Core and Post Threshold Teacher Standards, the postholder’s key accountability will be for delivering high standards of teaching and learning, leading to all pupils having a successful start to their school career.

All postholders are expected to recognise overall Trust objectives and practice when carrying our their school role.

Key Responsibilities:

The postholder will be required to exercise their professional skills and judgement to carry out, in a collaborative manner, the professional duties set out below:-

• Work with all members of staff and the Trust to realise the vision of the school

• Promote the school ethos in all aspects of school life

• Set high expectations for all pupils and support staff and continually strive to raise standards

• Be familiar with and show a clear understanding of all school or Trust policies and ensure that they are all put into practice

• Take responsibility for a class throughout the school day if appropriate including movement around the school, especially at the beginning of lunchtime

• Allow enough preparation time to set up the lessons for each new day and leave the classroom tidy

• Provide quality teaching and learning opportunities that are appropriate for the full range of children's abilities

• Assess individual needs and plan, prepare and match programmes and resources to cater for those needs, including writing and reviewing support plans in conjunction with SENDCO

• Develop a stimulating and interactive classroom which provides a welcoming and safe learning environment

• Work as part of a team to promote high standards in the appearance of all areas of the school and to take good care of all school resources.

• To lead a curriculum subject / key area as directed 

• Develop excellent working relationships with parents, other colleagues and outside agencies

• Attend all parents' evenings, workshops and children's performances for parents, as well as the majority of school functions when appropriate

• Attend and contribute to meetings and courses during/out of school time to support professional development throughout the school including annual meetings

• Keep up to date with new Government Initiatives and changes in educational thought and practice 

• Ensure that all children are collected from school by a recognised adult or are sent home as agreed with parents.

• Take responsibility for the playground at least once a week

• Actively take part in and organise assemblies and acts of collective worship

• Take part in the school's annual Performance Management Programme
