Role Description

This post presents an exciting opportunity to join and become an integral part of the academic support team. The post holder will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive administration and support service to the Senior Deputy Head, Director of Studies, and their immediate team of consisting of:

  • Two Assistant Heads (Teaching and Learning),
  • The Director of Admissions,
  • The School Examinations Officer,
  • The School Timetabler, and
  • The Teacher in Charge of Staff Cover.

Additional support may occasionally be required by some of the academic departments who do not otherwise have their own administrative support. The successful candidate will be a confident and experienced PA who would love the challenge of assisting a number of very busy individuals with an interesting and diverse range of work. They will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate well to people on all levels with sensitivity, tact and diplomacy. In addition, they will need to be able to remain calm under pressure, demonstrate a pro-active approach and show initiative for planning and prioritising work. The post holder is expected to be able to maintain confidentiality at all times, while also being tactful and professional. The ideal candidate will have a high level of confidence to co-ordinate all aspects of the role, providing high quality administrative and organisational support. as well as first class organisational and diary management skills

The successful candidate will be committed to the SPGS values and ethos. An organised and efficient PA with excellent communication skills and the ability to bring a positive and professional approach to interactions with a wide range of internal and external contacts. Accuracy and an eye for detail are vital, alongside organisational and time management skills, to ensure deadlines are met. The ideal candidate will display initiative and adaptability, with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and an ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality.


  • A good all-round education, preferably to degree level
  • Demonstrate evidence of excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrate the existence of excellent administration skills and attention to detail
  • Evidence of strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently, with a highly proactive, flexible and positive approach to all duties and responsibilities
  • Demonstrate proven problem-solving expertise
  • Evidence of excellent working knowledge of IT software including Word, Excel, and strong keyboard skills
  • Demonstrate evidence of diplomacy, discretion, professionalism and an ability to keep one’s counsel as required
  • Ability to work flexibly to fulfil the requirements of the post


  • Experience of working with school management information systems (iSAMS) or in another academic environment is desirable, but not essential.

The role has the following terms and conditions:

  • Required as soon as possible
  • Permanent
  • Term-time plus 3 weeks (38 weeks)
  • Full-Time, 40 Hours per week (8.30am-4.30pm during term time)
  • Salary £31,806 (FTE £38,000)
