Dear prospective applicant,
Thank you for expressing an interest in this key vacancy at our college.
Over the last five years our school has been on a journey to try and make this school not only one of the best schools for children but also to be the best school to work in for staff. We have spent a lot of time and resources to make CHCC a very special place to work and attend as a student. That is extremely rare and we urge you to come and see us in action, speak to the staff and speak to the students. Every decision that we take is done with a lot of thought and consideration and we put well-being at the centre, so that teachers can teach and students can learn.
Therefore, we are not a college that is driven by OFSTED and whether we are GOOD or OUTSTANDING but we do things because they are at the very essence of helping our children and school community to be the best that they can be.
We have a very different approach and we are trying to create a very different culture at CHCC, a culture whereby those in leadership do not hold authority and deserve to be followed; leaders at CHCC have to earn the right to lead and we welcome and appreciate challenge if we do not live up to the standards that are expected of us.
We are very clear that the gender, background, colour, poverty, wealth or social status of a child should have no bearing on how well they perform and staff here work extremely hard in trying to close that gap between the different groups of pupils.
The College now seeks to appoint a motivated member of staff to join the inclusion team, the successful candidate will join a high-performing Pastoral Team. We believe in children responding “first time, every time” and understand the importance for high expectations and clarity around sanctions and rewards.
The successful candidate will:
- Will work with the pastoral team to support challenging behavioural, learning difficulties and foster the participation of students in the social and academic aspects of college life.
- Primarily be involved with running an internal seclusion room.
- Involved in various duties through the day including gate and lunch duties. They will work alongside the other members of the team that will include Assistant Head of Years, Heads of Year and Inclusion Support Workers.
We are well oversubscribed, even though we have increased our PAN from 240 to 300 pupils, we have more applicants than we have spaces.
