University Centre Askham Bryan: HE Lecturer Animal Behaviour with an Equine Focus

Part Time, Permanent Contract – York Campus

Hours: 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE)

Salary: £27,286 - £29,819 per annum, pro-rata

Askham Bryan College is an ambitious, specialist land-based college based across the North of England with its University Centre on the outskirts of historic York.

We have an exciting opportunity for a University Centre Lecturer in Animal Behaviour with an Equine focus, specialising around equine and animal science and behaviour. The post will be required to deliver at both undergrad and postgraduate levels here at our York campus. We are particularly interested in applicants who are, or willing to work towards professional accreditation as an ASAB CCAB (Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour, Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist) or ABTC CAB (Animal Behaviour and Training Council, Clinical Animal Behaviourist). This is a part time permanent role working 22.2 hours per week.

The ideal candidate should hold a formal level 7 qualification or higher, either in the subject area or possess extensive working knowledge in the subject area. You will lead on the teaching of core equine and animal science and behaviour focused modules. Working closely with the course team in the university centre and Askham Bryan Science Centre to support the delivery of the core modules across under and post graduate degrees.

You will have excellent communication skills, be experienced with Microsoft programs and be willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business and support outstanding student experience, marketing opportunities and industry engagement.
