Are you an experienced educator looking for a new challenge? Have you ever considered working within Prison Education?

Weston College is the regional education provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) contract across the South West and South East of England and we are expanding our team.

We are currently looking for a number of Generalist Lecturers to work in the South West Region, across a small designated cluster of prisons.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to learners lives through teaching across several sites, each of which will have a unique identity.

As a Generalist Lecturer, you will regularly deliver English and Maths courses, and may be asked to deliver other subjects as required.

Within the South West Region, we are the education provider in 9 prisons, and we anticipate that the clusters will be as follows:

  • Devon Cluster: HMP Channings Wood, HMP Exeter and HMP Dartmoor.
  • Bristol Cluster: HMP Bristol, HMP Leyhill and HMP Eastwood Park.
  • Dorset Cluster: HMP The Verne, HMP Portland and HMP Guys Marsh.

Although these are the anticipated clusters, we are able to offer flexibility for the successful candidate should another group of prisons be more suitable.

The successful candidate will report to the Lot Manager for their specific cluster of prisons, but will work in partnership with the Curriculum Manager and Assistant Curriculum Manager at each prison to ensure that they are delivering a high quality curriculum.

The post-holder will have one prison which is designated as their base location, and this will be determined prior to commencement in the role.

As this is a regional role, you will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

More information about this role can be found in the job description and person specification.

When you join the team at Weston College, you will be joining a multi-award winning organisation which is one of the fasted growing colleges in the UK.

As an employee of Weston College you will have access to a huge range of benefits and support, including but not limited to:

Wellbeing @ Weston hub, providing well-being support for all;

  • A staff welfare officer;
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (available 24/7, 365 days a year);
  • Access to Mental Health First Aiders, and the opportunity to complete this training yourself;
  • Training and development opportunities;
  • Great progression opportunities;
  • Generous pension schemes.

Weston College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role.
