Are you an experienced educator looking for a new challenge? Have you ever considered working within Prison Education?

Weston College is the regional education provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) contract across the South West and South East of England and we are expanding our team.

We are currently looking for a number of Generalist Lecturers to work in the South East Region, across a small designated cluster of prisons.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference to learners lives through teaching across several sites, each of which will have a unique identity.

As a Generalist Lecturer, you could be asked to cover any subject, or support in multiple teaching areas – including English and maths.

Within the South East Region, we are the education provider in 10 prisons, across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Surrey:

  • HMP Downview
  • HMP Send
  • HMP Coldingley

Kent:

  • HMP East Sutton Park
  • HMP Rochester
  • HMP Maidstone
  • HMP Standford Hill
  • HMP Elmley

Sussex:

  • HMP Lewes
  • HMP Ford

Each successful candidate will work across 3-4 of the prisons listed above. The clusters of prisons are not pre-determined and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates as part of the interview process.

Should you have any preference as to which prison or prisons you would like to work in, please state this in your application.

The successful candidate will report to the Lot Manager for their specific cluster of prisons, but will work in partnership with the Curriculum Manager and Assistant Curriculum Manager at each prison to ensure that they are delivering a high quality curriculum.

The post-holder will have one prison which is designated as their base location, and this will be determined prior to commencement in the role.

As this is a regional role, you will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

When you join the team at Weston College, you will be joining a multi-award winning organisation which is one of the fasted growing colleges in the UK.

As an employee of Weston College you will have access to a huge range of benefits and support, including but not limited to:

  • Wellbeing @ Weston hub, providing well-being support for all;
  • A staff welfare officer;
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (available 24/7, 365 days a year);
  • Access to Mental Health First Aiders, and the opportunity to complete this training yourself;
  • Training and development opportunities;
  • Great progression opportunities;
  • Generous pension schemes.

Weston College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role.
