Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Manager

Full - Time (Part - Time considered)

We are looking for an individual whose is enthusiasm and motivating skills will galvanise our young people to achieve their goals. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DoE) Scheme Manager will possess excellent administrative and people management skills and a commitment to the highest standards care and safety, to take over the running of our extensive and vibrant programme.

We are a designated as a Directly Licensed Centre for DoE and successfully completed our re-licencing this year. The majority of students in the school take part in DoE at some point in their school career. The vast majority of Year 9 undertake the Bronze Award, many continue on to Silver in Year 10 and then Gold in the Lower Sixth.

Our programme is staffed by experienced volunteers who have either a current or historical affiliation with the school (normally as a parent) so the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to empathise.

Demonstrable experience working and communicating with teenagers and young people will provide you with a strong foundation for this role. An individual with a love of outdoors and a background in planning (in particular health and safety), overseeing and conducting expeditions would also relish the challenges of this position. There is a requirement to complete administration for both the school and DoE so a sound knowledge of all MS Office packages is required.

  • inspire, motivate, train and lead students and volunteers
  • relate effectively to and to earn the confidence of colleagues, students, parents, volunteers
  • A good working knowledge of the DofE Award
  • Knowledge of the relevant H&S issues and regulations, and a commitment to them
  • ability to lead the team and manage and monitor the DofE Award provision
  • Excellent organisational, time management and IT skills
  • to use strategies that effectively support the School's policies and procedures on safeguarding, H&S, reward and discipline etc.
