Macclesfield College as part of the Skills and Education Group Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling are inviting applications from Counselling Supervisors who wish to be added to an approved list of supervisors.

Students who are engaged on the Diploma course must show evidence of a 100-hour client supervised placement.

They are also required to submit case study evidence in relation to application of theory, learning from supervision and working within boundaries and an appropriate ethical framework.

Approved supervisors will be expected to provide supervision for students that are trained in the person-centred modality of counselling.

They will also be expected to provide advice and support in relation to the case study aspect of the students work, with an emphasis on the application of theory, learning from supervision and working within an ethical framework.

This is not a paid role, but the college will direct student towards the approved list of supervisors. However, the approved supervisors will be expected to make their own arrangements with regards to fees and a working agreement with the students.

Supervisors that are selected for inclusion on the approved list will be expected to attend training sessions to inform about the Skills and Education Group qualification and indicative content.

Essential Skills.

  • Have a qualification relevant to the needs the role. For example, Diploma in Counselling or similar,
  • Be a member of BACP or similar body.
  • Have undertaken, or currently be undertaking training in counselling supervision.
  • An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion.
  • Be able to supervise trainee counsellors within the Person-Centred Modality.
  • Be willing to attend appropriate training and standardisation sessions.

Desirable.

  • Accredited BACP/UKCP or similar Counsellor.
