Class Teacher Required (full-time); English Leader; open to lead one other subject (Geography/History/PE)

Located in a lovely corner of Surrey, Windlesham Village Infant School is a one-form entry community school. We are a small school, known for nurturing our pupils and our staff.

School: Windlesham Village Infant School

Start Date: September 2023

Salary: London Fringe: Main or Upper Pay Scale. ECTs considered

Contract: Temporary

We are looking to recruit an English Leader because the current post-holder will be moving to a different sector for September. Given that we have a small number of staff, teachers (including the Headteacher) tend to lead more than one subject and are supported to do so; we favour a collegiate, team approach and collaborate well together.

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience of leading English in your school
  • Are very organised and can plan effectively to meet the needs of all pupils
  • Are enthusiastic about all aspects of learning and teaching
  • Are highly motivated with high expectations of attainment and behaviour from all pupils
  • Believe children learn best through first-hand experience
  • Are committed to your own professional development
  • Have the ability to work as part of a small, hardworking, enthusiastic and committed team
  • Demonstrate great inter-personal skills and have a good sense of humour
  • Will make a significant contribution to the life of the school.

We can offer you:

  • A supportive environment with a commitment to develop your career
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic children
  • Good, practical classroom support
  • A commitment to the well-being of all our staff
  • Excellence, excitement and enjoyment.
  • A well-resourced school

This position is for an EYFS/KS1 Classroom teacher. Applications from ECTs are welcome.

This is a very exciting time to join our Trust as we move into the next stage of our development where we can offer a wealth of support with collaborative opportunities to ensure all our schools have capacity to bring the best out of staff and pupils.

We have worked hard since OfSTED 2021 to sequence our curriculum so that children can make links between topics and subjects; our Teaching and Learning review in November 2022 concluded that our curriculum is now Good. We use ‘Essential Letters and Sounds’ as our phonics programme, which drives reading in school. We adapt the Hamilton Trust planning for our English schemes of work. Kapow Primary supports our planning and teaching in Art, DT, Music and PSHE/RSE.

We would strongly encourage candidates to arrange an informal meeting with the headteacher in person, or via TEAMs/phone call if required.

We think our school is incredibly special. We ensure a nurturing, safe, supportive, and inspiring school experience for our pupils. We look forward to meeting you.

If you are interested in the above role, please complete and submit an application form.

Application Closing Date: Monday 17th April at 12 noon

Interviews: Wednesday 26th April 2023

If you are interested in this position, then please look carefully at the attached letters from our Headteacher, as well as the Class Teacher Job Profile/Person Specification.
