A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Chef Manager to be part of establishing a new Educate Together primary school in Abbey Farm, North Swindon. The school is due to open to reception class and pre-school pupils in September 2022, in a brand-new building, delivered by the DfE Free School’s Team.

The school will eventually serve 420 pupils, plus pre-school and will act as a community hub for residents of the new Abbey Farm development. We are part of an Academy Trust that also has schools in Redfield, Bath, Keynsham and Weston-Super-Mare.

Our ethos at Educate Together Academy Trust is:

· Equality based: children of all social, cultural and religious backgrounds being equally respected

· Co-educational and committed to encouraging all children to explore their full range of abilities and opportunities

· Child-centred: all children have a voice and staff make decisions that are right for our children

· Democratic whereby all children, staff and parents are involved in some decisions that we make

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Chef Manager.  As our school is new our pupil numbers are small. You will provide meals for the nursery and reception class with a total of up to 40 meals daily. This will increase yearly, so the role will increase in hours as the school grows. The ideal candidate should have a passion and flair for using fresh locally sourced ingredients and demonstrating a true understanding of the school food plan. You will also be responsible in the kitchen for the production of meals, food service, dish and utensil washing, general cleaning, ordering of stock and Stock taking and any other duties that are required to this post. You will need to be able to work to a very high standard, be approachable, enthusiastic, flexible and committed to providing a quality service. The post holder’s responsibilities will be to work in line with our Trust Executive Chef.

The ideal candidate will hold a Catering qualification such as a NVQ level 2 in Catering or equivalent and have a minimum of level 2 Food Hygiene qualification although training can be provided.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind. We are committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and operate flexible and supportive working practices. We serve a diverse community and representation matters. We actively encourage applications from black and minority ethnic communities and other under-represented groups.

The salary is ETAT Grade C which is currently £21,808 pro rata. The post is initially for 20 hours per week term time only plus 5 days ,the actual salary for these hours is £10,394.

Closing date is Tuesday 23rd August at 9am. Interview will be held the following week and the ideal candidate will be available to start as soon as possible.
