West Lea is commissioned by the Local Authority in Enfield to run support services for young people of statutory school age who may not be accessing education in another setting. These young people may be facing a variety of challenges including physical health difficulties and social, emotional and mental health issues which are impacting on their engagement with education.
We are looking to recruit casual qualified teachers working school term times throughout the year, who can be available at short notice and who are by nature very patient, naturally caring and very reliable to offer short term teaching support to students referred by the L.A.
This may include working one-to-one in the students’ home or in an external venue; working with a student on site at one of West Lea’s campuses; supporting a young person to gradually re-integrate back to their home school in liaison with other professionals; or a combination of assistance as the young person progresses back into education. Every circumstance will be different but your role in encouraging and guiding both students and their families will be crucial both in addressing their needs and facilitating opportunities for them to be met.
You will have the support of a dynamic team and will help to develop and shape the future of new programmes supporting young people in Enfield.
As a community of 220 employees serving nearly 450 learners aged 4-25 with special educational needs and disabilities across 4 campuses and several sites, we’re seeking someone who is culturally aligned, who shares our values and is happy to contribute to the wider life of our happy and successful school.
West Lea is all about innovation, and as such, we are constantly evolving. The only true way to see what we can offer is by coming to see us and discovering why we believe you should make ‘our’ school, ‘your’ school. We want to provide you with all the information you need to decide whether the role and our school setting are right for you. We welcome questions and would love to show you around.
West Lea School, Staff and the governing body are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our recruitment process is rigorous and appointments made are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, a medical check and satisfactory references.
