The Opportunity

As a fast growing Multi Academy Trust, now is a fantastic time to join our connected network of education professionals where your expertise will be supported and your growth as a teaching professional nurtured by our School Improvement Team.

The Chalet School is a unique and exciting learning environment for primary aged pupils with Autism and SEND. Our pupils are in need of an established teacher who has the nurturing passion to ensure they make good or better progress in all areas of their development. We do not assess the pupils against EYFS Development Matters, however, we take aspects of this framework to adapt the curriculum to suit the abilities of our pupils. For these reasons having knowledge and/or experience of the EYFS is advantageous.

Our school is unique, and you need to see it to feel it. We support our children in a warm and supportive environment as part of connected network of educational settings and we would recommend a visit to The Chalet School to see for yourself. With a group of inspiring pupils and a collective of dedicated leadership (SLT), Teaching Assistants and Class Teachers who strive to give our pupils the most positive learning experiences possible please schedule a visit to The Chalet School at 1793 534537.

Your Role

The attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include:

  • To prepare for, provide and review class-based activities that lead to the effective education of the pupils in your charge and to develop in them the ability to take responsibility for their own learning
  • To prepare, implement and review individual programmes and schemes of work in consultation with key staff and support professionals and in line with the curricular objectives of the Education Provision
  • To provide the Headteacher with planning of all activities on a short, medium and long term basis
  • To line-manage the provision of quality displays in well-organised and efficient classrooms and in the wider Education Provision environment
  • To contribute to in-service training
  • To have a responsibility to develop and maintain a home/Education Provision partnership which is harmonious and constructive

Your Experience

Our person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:

  • Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Be an accomplished and experienced classroom practitioner
  • Have experience in the teaching of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and have an understanding of Autism and associated barriers to learning
