Assistant Principal (Personal Development) L12-L16 (£55,338 - £61,166)
Required from 1st September 2023
This is a rare opportunity to become a key member of the Senior Leadership Team in a developing school. Great Western Academy opened in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities in North Swindon in September 2018. The Academy is heavily oversubscribed in years 7 to 11 and our first two cohorts of A-level students celebrated their exceptional results in summer 2021 and 2022, with strong destinations for all, including three Oxbridge students.
September 2023 sees our first cohort join our Sixth Form, continuing the Academy’s expansion towards full capacity by September 2024. To help support this growth we are seeking to appoint an additional member of our SLT. This dynamic and creative individual will lead our strong pastoral team and ensure the Academy builds on its excellent reputation to date. The successful candidate will show passion, drive and the ability to further develop our work in the following main areas:
• working with our Vice Principal and pastoral lead to further develop the ‘Care’ element of our ACE values
• further develop the House system at GWA so that its full potential is used
• overseeing the day-to-day work of our House teams to ensure that the pastoral care provided is of the very highest standard
• lead our work on attendance, student voice and social, moral, spiritual and cultural provision (SMSC) including our assembly programme
As a member of our SLT there will also be significant opportunities to influence many other aspects of the Academy’s work to ensure the excellence we have established in staff and students at GWA continues.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. We will use our fantastic facilities to help achieve this, but it is the team of staff who will turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire and lead a high performing team then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Further information about the Academy is available on our website and in the information documents attached. Informal conversations with the Principal, Graham Davis, are available prior to application; please contact Denise Horn on the recruitment email to arrange this if desired.
Applications should be submitted electronically to the recruitment email by 9am on Wednesday 8th February 2023. Interviews will take place during the week beginning 20th February.
Great Western Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
