Having gone through a substantial development period in recent months, now is an exciting time to join Brunel Autism Support & Inclusion Service (BASIS) in Headlands Industrial Estate, Swindon. Autism Resource Centre (ARC) offers an enhanced programme of social communication and therapeutic learning activities for children and young people aged 4 to 19 and is largely delivered on sites away from the child’s school.
We are looking to appoint a dedicated Support Worker who is passionate about delivering bespoke programmes of intervention and therapy to our CYP.
With a flair for celebrating the smallest but most impacting successes of our CYP, retaining a patience in the knowledge this role comes with good days and challenging ones, we at ARC will strive to build independence and confidence through a range of therapeutic learning activities.
The attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):
- Support the ARC Service Manager and the wider team to support the unique needs of the ASC learner and/or other learners with ASC or identified social communication and interaction difficulty to access intervention/therapy programmes
- Contribute to record keeping and reporting
- Transport CYP to and from the ARC and school/setting
- Promote the inclusion of all CYP with SEND ensuring they have equal opportunities to learn and develop
Our person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:
- Experience of working with children and young people
- Basic ICT skills
- Have some knowledge of Autism or SCID (social communication and interaction difficulty)
- Have good organisational and time management skills
- An effective English communicator both written and verbal
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Have a full clean UK drivers licence
