1:1 and General Teaching Assistant

Grade 3 Scale Point 5 to 6 £18795 - £19171 (pro rata)

Widcombe C of E Junior School are looking to recruit a general/SEND Teaching Assistant to support a child in Year 3 with an Education, Health Care Plan. We are looking for a warm, caring individual who can offer an exceptional level of care and foster the child’s independence.

Experience of working with children who have had the following needs would be beneficial:

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Communication and Interaction
  • Social, emotional and mental health

You will need to be:

  • a patient, resilient and motivated individual
  • experienced in working with children who are significantly below age related expectations and display emotional difficulties
  • an excellent communicator to establish positive home/school relationships
  • passionate about promoting learning and achievement for all
  • proficient in literacy and numeracy
  • able to work effectively as part of a team and share our Vision

You will be required to:

  • work with the individual under the direction of the class teacher and Inclusion Manager
  • support the pupil with their additional needs whilst implementing planned learning activities/programmes as agreed with the class teacher
  • show initiative and flexibility
  • build effective relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • manage the pupil 1:1 and in a group scenario in a positive and calm way so they achieve the highest standards in their learning

The hours of work are:

Monday – Wednesday: 12:15pm – 3:15pm

Thursday-Friday: 8:30am – 3:15pm
